Let It Be October 4, 2010

Okay, let’s be honest. I am not a big Beatle’s fan.  Yes, there are a couple of songs that have important meaning in my life.  Like Imagine; the song seventy students sang to me at my farewell party when I was a teacher living in Japan. This morning driving to yoga, Let It Be came on my car radio and I came this close to changing the channel, but instead I eased into the yoga mind frame before stepping in the door and let go.

I listened to the words and remembered how beautiful they are and left the radio dial alone.

In yoga our instructor reminded us to BE.  Let the floor support you, now just be.  She said something like, Let the posture settle into your bones. The posture is over, now just reap the benefits.  Just be.

There are many in my Bikram yoga class who don’t always let it be.  They say most of us in there, who want to sweat in a 105 degree room for 90 minutes are type A personalities.  Not me.  B plus on most days. Occasionally an A minus gal.  I can live with that, it still leaves me room to smile.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t need to be reminded to Let It Be. I need to be reminded daily.  I am practicing being in little pockets of time. The song on the radio, the running into someone who says, No worries, you don’t have to…all signs that it is up to me to let go and be.

Who or what is your sign, your reminder to let it go and be? Is it Mother Mary like in the song?  Perhaps the moon on a clear night, your blood pressure or just the wisdom inside of you?

I will leave you with some beauty…wonderful words that I really listened to this morning instead of judging them because by nature I’m not a Beatles fan, but perhaps if I truly let be, maybe I would be.

Let’s not get carried away now. Baby steps. Focus.

———————————————————————————

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, …..

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, …..

Lovely – I find myself singing this song to myself when I feel overwhelmed….amazing how it can bring comfort. By the way, you are a A+ person in my book! xoxox

Yes, the words do break up some of that overwhelmedness….did I just invent a word? Thanks on the A+ comment…I was referring to TYPE A, wound tight, over achievers … that’s where I fall to the B grade. But I am grateful for your faith in me. xoxo back.
