In the next room I hear giggling girls. Whispers of joy, secrets shared. My daughter is having her first slumber party and I am reminded of all my sleepovers of youth. Staying up late. Discovering other parts of yourself. Learning how you connect with a group.
There are three of them. Three can be tricky. But perhaps that is just my experience and it depends on the three. These three are blending their personalities quite nicely. All three oldest siblings. Leadership qualities emerging. Asserting themselves but still sweetness prevailing.
Tonight I will dream of my childhood sleepovers. The ones I wished could go on forever, the ones where I couldn’t keep my eyes open the next day.
