I fell asleep last night after reading a short ariticle about Marianne Williamson and her work teaching and translating The Course in Miracles. I know this book. It sits on my shelf and I see it every day. I am slowly reading it, absorbing its truth. I believe the last words on my mind before falling asleep last night were, choosing with love not fear.
I woke up this morning with a different tape recorded message on my brain. Most days I wake up with, Thank you, a new day, thank you, playing in my mind. But today I woke up with the soundtrack of, Choose with Love not Fear, as not just the background music in my head but the main attraction.
What if I made my decisions, created my thoughts and lived my day by choosing love not fear? It sounds so simple. Like a no brainer, right?
Fear can be more comfortable out of regular practice.
But Love is more freeing, life giving and rewarding. And with practice, it gets easier and easier.
What will that look like for me to live by choosing love over fear? Will I smile more? Talk differently to my husband and children. Perhaps arms will be open not crossed over my chest. My words and thoughts will have a different shape, I imagine. I am pretty sure it will mean to rely more on my faith than my doubt and to walk forward without such a strict agenda.
To choose Love over Fear may sound riskier to some but it is a chance I am willing to take. Thank you, thank you for this new day and the opportunity to make a new choice.
