Monday’s Random Thought: Summer Poetry Friends Laugh July 28, 2014

Last night gathered in the light of the setting sun
Surrounded by friends, fresh caught salmon, fire on the table
Laughter dancing through the air
Asked about my blogs, revealing details
Spontaneity leapt from the table
Friend and daughter off to create a Haiku
Neither claim creative bones in their bodies
I say, not true

This beautiful summer morning as the sunshine continues its dance
Birds sing, I wake slowly
Hungover from laughter

I give you the spontaneous creation of two souls meeting for the first time
My twelve year old daughter, my friend huddle in the kitchen
Birthing words from nothing
Poetry and new friendship born

Summer is here now
Laugh play sing dance enjoy the sun
Friends are forever
—- Lauren and Margaret

Marshmallows that ooze
Toasted graham milk chocolate
Smores taste like summer
— Lauren

Summer soon over
Winter’s frost will overtake
Memories saved forever
— Margaret

This life moves me
Her inspiration
Light, love, creation everywhere
Even if you blink, there will be more to witness

Will you write a Haiku today? Syllables of 5, 7, 5 ready to burst from within.
Or perhaps, will you simply dance in the sun and find yourself hungover
in the morning from laughter and friendship?

(Thank you to our guest Poets, Lauren Hudspeth and daughter Margaret ElizabethAnn McGlothern for your willingness to create beauty and share it with the world!)
