Monday’s Random Thought: Courage and Kindness April 27, 2015

On her deathbed, in the recent Disney film adaptation of Cinderella the heroine’s mother tells her daughter to, “have courage and be kind.” Very straightforwad, simple words to live by.

Having courage is to act despite your fear, to do it any way regardless of your concern. To leap trusting the net will appear. Listening with faith to that voice within who is calling you forward.

Kindness will get you everywhere. One act of kindness affects many. Kindness spreads like wild fire. Again like courage, it starts from within, listening to the whispers coming from inside of you.

When we are courageous and kind, miracles unfold. You may not turn a pumpkin into a carriage or an ordinary country girl into a princess, far more miraculous than that. Love will appear out of no where.

Monday’s Random Thought: Be Real April 20, 2015

The popular buzz these days showing up in self-help books and the media is about being “Happy.” Getting Happy. Finding your Happy. Living Happy. I’ve read the books, I preach on the same topic in my business and personal life. There is a lot to be said about feeling, being and living a happy life. Finding your bliss. I get it.

There is also a lot to be said for being where you need to be in the moment. If we aren’t in tune and ignore our true feelings we are not being authentic to ourselves.

Friday I wrote about my day in my other blog (http://www.mamaneedsarefill.com/2015/04/fridays-free-refill-remembering/)

I was sad, reflective, in a place of missing my father not necessarily happy. Not entirely unhappy either, but instead of brushing my feelings aside, forcing myself to feel happy, I just felt. I allowed what I was feeling to be experienced in all parts of me.

Our sadness, frustration, anger and apathy have a place within in us. Without the other feelings we wouldn’t know what happy was all about.

Happy is good don’t get me wrong, but sometimes it is felt on a deeper level and not taken for granted when we allow to feel all the other stuff in between.

Whatever is up for you, allow it. Feel it. Be in it. When this feeling is no longer serving you and it has run over its expiration date, then create your happy place.  Until then maybe where you are right now is where you are meant to be.

Monday’s Random Thought: Thank You April 13, 2015

When my husband says to me out of the blue, with no warning, Thanks babe for all you do for us, any frustration that could be filling my spirit with annoyance for doing the dishes or making dinner, one more time, evaporates. Those two words are like magic dust. They say to me, You are visible. You are needed. I appreciate you. You bring value.

My teenage daughter can take me off gaurd when she says, Thanks mom, I wanted to wear my blue shirt tomorrow, after seeing her clean folded laundry placed with love on her bed.

Sure I love to be acknowledged and thanked, but when I am not seeking the recognition the unexpected words of thanks fill me up.

The thing about THANK YOU is when we are looking for it and don’t receive it we can let it bum us out and hurt deeply. If I don’t seek it out from another to validate my purpose I find that my own thank you takes care of me. I thank God, Universe, Holy Spirit, that invisible force that holds me up. Thank you, I shout when I see the moon light up the sky.

Thank you, I utter under my breath when prayers are answered. And especially when things happen unexpectedly, uninvited and intrusively. Thank you.

See Thank You just isn’t just words that we give and receive to another to show our apprecitaion. They are a powerful prayer inviting and acknowledging Grace.

Monday’s Random Thought: Awaken Slowly April 6, 2015

This morning I set the alarm early, before the dawn even thinks of cracking in order to work on my book. I got up. I tried to write. I made some things happen, slowly. Not sure if I have a jelly bean hangover from Easter or if my body just wasn’t ready to awaken so early, it has taken all morning to “wake up.” My walk, my yoga, my meditation, all of my practices that feed me took longer and I moved as if walking through molasses.

Sometimes we need to be patient with where we are even if it is uncomfortable.

Do you feel like you are moving through molasses today and things aren’t moving along as quick as you like? Relax. Often our timing is too rigid that it can’t see the possibility around the corner. Trust the slow work. Be patient with the process. Give yourself a hall pass.

Believe that you will wake up exactly when you need to. Cut yourself some slack. Often the effort of trying is enough.
