I am that loud mother on the sidelines of my daughter’s soccer games. I have known this team of girls and their parents for about four years give or take and some much longer. It is no secret that I am a life coach in my professional world when I show up to these games. This is evident in the cheers that come out of my mouth. I shout things like, “We Believe in You, Do You Believe in You?” “Visualize.” “Opportunity.” And my favorite, “Find your inner Katniss.” (A reference of course to Jennifer Lawrence’s character in the movie/book The Hunger Games.)
Apparently the girls’ favorite is the one about believing. My daughter told me this weekend that one of the newer members of her team was with her basketball team and the girls were chanting their own “believe” cheer. This girl piped up, “We believe in you, do you believe in you?” Her team mates looked at her funny. They hadn’t heard that one. This girl thought my shout from the sideline at a soccer game, was an actual cheer. How cool is that? Some people have a fragrance, football stadium, avenue or clothing line named after them, I have my own cheer!
When I run into my daughter’s soccer mates they smile, “Hi Jenny, do you believe in you?” It is a warm fuzzy in my heart for sure. Dads will chide me on the side lines if the girls are losing, “You may want to break out one of your inspirational chants any time now.”
I believe in you, do you believe in you? Thirteen and fourteen year old girls inspire each other on the field with this simple question. And I ask you, the same. Do you believe in you?
Belief is the first step that leads you to more. A fundamental belief in action, possibilty, greatness can catapult you forward. Spring board you to your dreams. Believe first. See it second.
Thank you Martin Luther King, Jr for your dreams and always believing. We have the day off from work and school today to celebrate you. Thank you for keeping the faith and teaching us what can happen when we believe on the field and off.
Hi, I’m Jenny Gwinn McGlothern, Certified Transformational Master Life Coach, Retreat Leader and Writer. As founder of my retreat business, Mama Needs A Refill, LLC, one way I know I fill my cup is by showing up to a blank page to write. Thank you for stopping by and reading my Random Monday Thoughts, because I will be honest that fills my cup too, knowing others are reading my filled page. Life is too short to blog about anything else unless it touches my heart. Please know I appreciate you joining me on this journey whether you visit every week since I began in 2008 or this is your first blog stop.
